In the Roman Empire, gladiator fights are considered the peak of "panem et circenses". The doomed fighters are the heroes of the arena; recruits are sought throughout the entire empire. Germanus is enslaved by the Romans after his family is murdered. On top of that, the arena takes the life of his last ally in a foreign country - his brother Ceradoc dies at the hand of the merciless gladiator Lagos. By an amazing chance, Germanus is reunited with his long-lost sister Rhihanna - but she falls in love with Lagos. Still, the brave Germanus does not give up. His only confidant is the beautiful Flaminia. He takes revenge for the terrible death of his family and, as a gladiator, wins the hearts of the masses. But he still has a long journey in front of him on his path to freedom.
